This is our new information-brochure which
explains why it is so important to neuter male dogs. Most of the Italian people are
transferring their point of view about sexuality to their animals and this is causing a lot of suffering.
Let us look at this in more depth: whilst a female dog has a heat cycle twice a year, a male dog is always ready for sexual
interaction as a result of a constant production of testosterone, the male sexual hormone. Because after every time of "mating" a
litter of puppies is the consequence, dog owners do their very best to keep their dogs shut away, chain them up or do whatever they
think is necessary to avoid more puppies ( and very often these measures are not so successful as the dogs want to escape and find
their mate.) The poor male can only dream of his sex life and this certainly makes him suffer. Neutering will take away the desire
without causing any suffering. Even better, neutering is preventing hypertrophy of the prostate, tumours of the penis and has positive
impact on his social behaviour.
